Proud Lion of over 34 years service, previously a member of Brentwood, Romford and after moving home currently Clacton on Sea Lions.
My working life has been dealing with the public as a police officer then upon retirement a CCTV Consultant for a London Borough. In both employments, I was responsible for the development/modernisation of procedures to conform with current legislation, this also included the training and development of officers and staff in this respect. I was commented for my achievements in both employments. Previous experience gained have held the post of Region and Zone Chairman and at Club level all posts, including Twinning Officer, except for Treasurer. As Certified Guiding Lion for two years I worked with Hornchurch, helping them to set up. I am a member of the GMA, Membership Satisfaction currently lead a successful team of three, we have worked with both clubs and fellow members supporting advising of various options thereby retaining them albeit sometimes in a slightly different format. I am a member of the Forward Planning Team – SPT as well as a member of the ICT and Comms attending monthly meetings for both and taking an active part in how we as a District will evolve. Recently I attend an Advanced Lions Leadership Institute (ALLI) course held in Oslo together with fellow counter parts from Europe. This was an amazing course where I learnt an awful lot and benefited from the experience of others. I have enjoyed making club visits, attending charter nights and never cease to be amazed at all the good work which is being achieved by those who unselfishly devote their own time for those in need. This being signified by the milestone achievement awards which I have proudly presented in the form of chevrons. You will also find notification of this service achievement in the monthly Bulletin as it is reached. Something I asked to be published at the time rather than wait for the presentation. My goal – Support the DG’s Goals. To build upon the successes of the members of this District, enhance fellowship and to continue with the Lions Share programme. Increase Membership Satisfaction and to eradicate the reasons for members leaving – a Satisfied Lion remains a Lion. Promote teamwork – Together we Can and Together we Will. Development plays an important part in how we shape our future, to evolve and how we transition are vital to our success – Knowledge is Power. Another aspect which I am keen to progress. Above all we need to celebrate our success – I will enjoy playing a role in this |
Hi, I’m Lion Chris Speed a proud member of Great Yarmouth Lions Club, all the way over on the east coast of Norfolk. For some reason I have a reputation for wearing loud clothes but I’m not sure where that has come from.
I first joined the Lions nearly 20 years ago with my now wife but unfortunately, due to work commitments and the birth of our children, I wasn’t able to give the club the time it deserved. In 2018, I re-joined the Lions to do more for the community. While progressing, I have attended a symposium, the Regional Lions Leadership Institute training, Advanced Lions Leadership Institute in Oslo and I was one of the facilitators at Symposium 6. In the last 12 months I’ve been able to visit and meet the amazing members of 26 clubs across our district. I will continue to pass my expertise onto others to help them become leaders of the future, ultimately helping our district to serve more of our community. Im supported by my immediate family, they are Lion Jaime of Great Yarmouth Lions Club and my two daughters, Mollie and Emily, both active members of New Century Leos Club. Those that know me know that I have a great passion in Lions for Youth Engagement and Service projects. Both of these help keep our members engaged and helps us to stand out in our local areas. If done well they will help us increase our membership and grow. My moto is “Take a look at yourself and make that That Change” You have already made that change we just need others to do the same. I’m very Proud to be a Lion and remember we are just normal people making this world a better place. |
